San Francisco Museum Tickets & Passes

If you are as interested in Walt Disney and his story from childhood to the current day, do not miss this museum. It was probably the most bang for our buck of the many things that we did in San Francisco on our nine trip there. I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, displays, and memorabilia that was present. I could have spent all day reading about Walt, his family, the parks, and the various enterprises and endeavors that he envisioned. See this museum!

This exhibiiotn is exceptional in every way includuing the shebyu collar which was one of the highest honors in ancient Egypt.

The de Young is a standout among Bay Area museums, offering a thoughtfully curated collection even during renovations. Despite the collection not being exhaustive on our visit, it remains a highlight for anyone seeking a memorable museum experience.Its wonderful design, including a striking observation deck, and strong emphasis on non-European collections, makes the de Young unique. The Indigenous and Papua New Guinean displays in particular exemplify the museum’s commitment to diversity and artistic depth.Special exhibits add extra value, though the museum’s core collection is the main draw. During our visits to the Monet and Anime exhibits, it was a pleasant bonus that special exhibit tickets also included general admission. Admission is also free for Bay Area residents, making the experience even more accessible. The museum staff at the museum tends to be focused on the special exhibits, which are typically filled with tourists.While the outdoor dining area is beautiful, I recommend eating elsewhere due to the high cost of refreshments, such as nearly $10 for a bottle of water. That said, it is well worth a day trip if you can swing it and are in the area!

This was a ton of fun! You should plan to spend at least three hours if you've never been before as it is quite overwhelming (in a good way).

Don't Just Be a Thinker about Going - Go! Rodin's famous statue of "The Thinker" greets you in the center of the outdoor courtyard as you approach the museum entrance. What a grand spectacle. Plus, there are some really soaring views of the golf course and Golden Gate Bridge to the west. The entrance leading up to the museum with the arms of white columns, plus an IM Pei-looking glass pyramid behind "The Thinker" - a small echo to the glass pyramid at the Louvre, all offer you a whole lot of beauty to behold before even entering the museum. Inside, we walked through the permanent collections, which would be worth several visits in and of themselves, and then we headed downstairs for the temporary Wayne Thiebaud exhibit for a free, docent-led tour. The docent provided us with excellent context for the paintings, so we did not feel the need to thread back through the gallery using the QR codes for more information. It is good to know that the information is available, of course. Asks at the front desk when the free tours are on the day you visit. They are first come, first served. As with any fine museum such as this one, the marble floors are tough on the legs, and there's a lot of standing and walking involved in a museum visit. Each gallery has a bench or benches in the center, but you can't read any of the signage from the center of a room. So, this writer advises that you wear your most cushioned socks and shoes, so that you can focus on absorbing all of the beauty, as well as walk around the exterior of the museum, either before or after your visit. Top tip: the curved marble interior staircases are beautiful, but we knew where to find the hidden elevator - it's by the men's room. I'm being cute - it's not really hidden, just not obvious. I am so glad we went here.

The legion of honor hosts a rotation of temporary exhibits. The early 2026 exhibit was the floral arrangement showcase. Now, if you’ve never been - parking is extremely challenging. The location is really amazing and just walking around the promises will give you incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge. But parking…get early tickets, get a Lyft, or be willing to walk uphill quite far.

So many fascinating exhibits! It was my first visit, but I will have to come back many times to see everything here. 2 hours passed by very quickly.

Interesting museum about Walt Disney, the man. Don't expect rides or shows, it's a walk thru museum in a lovely setting. Recommend going to tunnel tops park after

The tour was very interesting. I learned so many new things regarding Disney. My son enjoyed it. I would go earlier than the tour time so you can enjoy the presidio. It was beautiful seeing all the views and grounds.

The museum is large and beautiful. Recommend getting tickets online. The staff is friendly and helpful. The visit is 2-3 hours to view all the exhibits. Currently Monet and Venice are featured. Weekend are crowded so if you can, visit during the week. The cafe offers a variety of food and beverages. Seating is available indoor and outdoor. The stores offer a good selection. The museum is across from the Museum of Industry and between three gardens.

San Francisco's de Young is a Must Visit Museum! We went to the de Young in November specifically to see the Art of Manga exhibit, but the permanent collection is also outstanding. In fact, even the exterior has a lot to offer, before you ever go into the museum, especially for kids who need to burn off some energy. As you walk toward the main entrance, look down. You'll see a crack on the ground in amongst the pavers. That's an art installation mimicking the actual crack in the Earth from San Francisco's 1906 earthquake. Kids can follow the crack, hiking up over boulders, back down, and snaking through the entire entrance plaza for a good ten minutes while the adults look on. Kids might also enjoy looking at the lily pond and seeing what they can spot. Plus, there's a sundial atop a turtle statue where they can practice telling time. Anyhow, inside the multi-story museum, you'll find a wonderful portrait gallery, a landscape gallery, and again for the youngsters, there's a painting they should try to find of a green half dragon-half human playing an organ that they might really like. And nearby, is an ornate wooden fireplace with dogs carved on either side. The Oceania exhibit has a bright orange seed pod worth seeing (this writer won't spoil what its purpose is). You'll also find some Wayne Theibaud and a Richard Mayhew painting with beautiful colors. And so, so much more on display. Plus, the cafe is very good, as is the exterior space with the giant safety pin statue, so you could make this a four hour visit, should you be so inclined. I have been here many times, I will go again and again, and I hope you do, too.

The Legion has a spectacular speciall exhibit of Manet and Morisot paintings. Should have been called Morisot and Manet, since her paintings, with which I was mostly unfamiliar, were considerably more interesting overall than his. We spent three hours altogether before having lunch in their very good but VERY expensive restaurant; and then we finished up with another 39 minutes with the special exhibit and an hour going through their surprisingly extensive permanent t collection of Rodin sculptures.

Check in was very easy. Parking can be a bit challenging, but the views surrounding the museum is fantastic.The staff were very friendly and polite.There are plenty of pieces to see at the museum. I would definitely recommend going!

The Exploratorium has so much to do and see that four hours is not enough but we did all that we could! We experimented and played with light, sound, touch, color, and more. We, all adults, had an amazing time there and we would definitely go again!!
