So incredibly cool to learn about Native American history, hear a panel with a former incarcerated person about prison reform, explore the island - and I met a former Alcatraz prisoner in the gift shop! :) I didn’t book a ticket far enough in advance to get an official ticket but luckily the Cool San Francisco team was able to squeeze me in and I am so grateful.

Wonderful private shore excursion at our own pace. Maddy picked us up promptly and drove us around the city highlights then out to Muir Woods where we were able to spend more time than the ship's tour allowed. We stopped at Sausalito for a snack and a stroll then headed back to pier 39. Nice day!

Before heading out of the city, she gave us a fantastic mini tour of San Francisco, driving through Billionaires’ Row and some of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods. This was a great tour. We did Alcatraz in the morning and San Francisco in the afternoon. At Alcatraz we were able to meet a former inmate, now author of his experiences at Alcatraz. He signed his book and we got a photo! A rare and exciting experience! San Francisco was brought to life for us by our fantastic tour guide, Buddy. I don't believe there is an area we didn't stop at or at least drive by. His vast knowledge of all things San Francisco was incredible! We learned so much as well. We were so glad we booked this tour and did not try to sightsee on our own as we would have missed so much. Highly recommend!!
